Is your website down? Check it in seconds.
Enter the address. We open it from our check location in Europe, follow redirects and tell you whether it is down for everyone or just for you, and why.
Why websites go down
-
1
DNS or domain
An expired domain or a wrong DNS record, and the name no longer leads to your server.
-
2
Certificate
An expired SSL certificate: the server runs, but browsers block it.
-
3
Host or server
The server or the hosting provider has a failure or maintenance.
-
4
Full disk or stopped service
The web server or database stopped, often because the disk is full.
-
5
Code or plugin update
An update breaks the application, and the server answers with error 500.
Step by step for the first 15 minutes: website down, what to do. The error on the screen tells you more: 502 Bad Gateway, 503 Service Unavailable, 504 Gateway Timeout, DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN, ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED. All guides.

Is it down for everyone or just me?
If this check reaches the site, it is up on the internet, and the problem is likely on your side: your network, DNS cache or browser. If the check fails too, it is down for everyone.
Why is my website down?
The result names the reason: a domain that does not resolve, a server that does not answer, a refused connection, a certificate error or an error from the application. The list above shows the five most common causes.
How do I know next time before my customers?
With monitoring. Centoculus checks your site as often as every 15 seconds (every 5 minutes on the free plan) and alerts you by email and in the app as soon as it stops answering.
Can you fix it for me?
Yes, if we can reach the server: as root on your own server (VPS, dedicated or cloud), or as your SSH user on a webspace. A quick fix at a fixed price, or a deep fix billed in 15-minute blocks, with the price shown before you order. On a webspace we fix what lies inside it; if the cause is at your host, you get a message to send them. Without SSH access, only your host can fix it.
